Introduction

Instructors place items on reserve at the library to provide students with supplemental materials for coursework. The library staff processes both traditional and electronic reserves. Placement of materials on reserve ensures access to frequently used materials that include journal articles, book chapters, and items from personal collections.

Traditional Reserves

Traditional reserves include books, journal articles, DVDs, CDs and other pertinent materials to support classroom instruction. They are kept on the reserve shelf (behind the Circulation Desk), at the request of an instructor. Traditional items are expected to be in high demand, and therefore they have limited loan periods.

For assistance with traditional reserves, please contact Jean Dobinick, Circulation/Reserves Specialist, at 570-674-6231, or email to circulation_desk@misericordia.edu.

Electronic Reserves

Electronic reserves are electronic files or links to files and websites placed on reserve at the request of an instructor and available through Blackboard. Files/links may include book chapters, journal articles, video files and other pertinent materials to support classroom instruction. These materials can be accessed throughout the class and are removed when the class is over.

How to Access Electronic Reserves

Electronic resources are accessed via your Blackboard course site.

1. Access files through your course page through Blackboard in the Contents folder.
2. Click on Electronic Reserves folder. You should now be able to open, read, save or print the document.
3. Most files will be in PDF format. If you have trouble viewing the file, you may need to download a free copy of Acrobat Reader at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

For assistance with electronic reserves, please contact Amy Houck, Access Services Specialist, at 674-6296, or email to ereserves@misericordia.edu.
